Publishing Guidelines

Last updated: 19/06/2026

Production & submission standards for INDEKS releases. All required templates, graphics, fonts, animations, and reference materials can be downloaded from the INDEKS Publishing Kit.

01

Location

Sets should be filmed on location. Film either at a venue with real visual character (a distinctive DJ booth, striking décor, standout lighting effects, and the like), or at an outdoor location with cultural significance to Korea (a rooftop in Itaewon, a mountain backdrop, Han River park, and so on).

Beyond giving local DJs more exposure, one of INDEKS' core aims is to showcase the diversity of Korean culture, its scenery, and the character of its nightlife. The setting is part of the story, and a genuine contributor to a release's appeal rather than just a backdrop.

Generic DJ recording studios and home recordings will be rejected.

02

Video Recording Standards

Recording specifications

All footage must be recorded using the following settings:

  • Resolution: 4K (3840×2160)
  • Frame rate: 24fps
  • Shutter: 180° shutter angle (approximately 1/48–1/50 shutter speed)

These specifications ensure consistency across all INDEKS releases.

Camera requirements

A minimum of two camera angles is mandatory. Submissions recorded with fewer than two camera angles will not be accepted.

  • Main angle - clearly shows the DJ and decks; the DJ and equipment must remain properly framed and visible throughout the performance.
  • Secondary angle - focuses primarily on the audience; the DJ should remain visible whenever possible.

Image quality

Footage should maintain a clean, sharp, and low-noise appearance with strong color presence. Avoid significant automatic exposure shifts, blown highlights, crushed shadows, and excessive image noise. Automatic exposure may be used in venues with highly dynamic lighting if it produces stable and usable results.

White balance must be manually set, remain consistent across all cameras, and target approximately 4000K unless venue conditions require adjustment.

Stability & movement

Use tripod-mounted cameras or stabilized handheld operation. Avoid distracting shake, unnecessary movement, and excessive repositioning. Camera movement should support the viewing experience and never become a distraction.

Lighting & laser safety

Maintain sufficient visibility of the DJ and equipment at all times. Avoid direct lens hits from strobes whenever possible, use available lighting creatively, avoid footage that is excessively dark or unusable, and add supplemental lighting if necessary.

Avoid recording lasers directly under all circumstances. If lasers are present and directed toward the camera, recording must not continue unless the lasers are switched off, redirected, or removed.

03

Audio Recording Standards

Recording specifications

  • Minimum sample rate: 48kHz
  • Preferred bit depth: 32-bit float (minimum acceptable: 24-bit)
  • File format: WAV

Source priority

Audio sources should be captured in the following order of preference. Camera microphones must never be used as the primary audio source.

  • Direct recording from the DJ mixer
  • Front of House (FOH) feed
  • Recorder or camera microphone for audience ambience only

DJ microphones & quality

If a DJ microphone is used during the performance, it must be recorded without exception. If the microphone signal is routed exclusively through FOH, an additional recording solution may be required.

Audio clipping is unacceptable. Monitor all recording levels throughout the performance to ensure clean signal capture, adequate headroom, and no distortion.

04

Editing Standards

Intro sequence (mandatory)

Every upload must begin with the following sequence. Refer to the logo framing guide and reference settings in the Publishing Kit for sizing and placement.

  • Fade-in: 1 second
  • INDEKS animated logo: 2.15 seconds
  • Party or brand logo: 2.15 seconds
  • Venue logo or location title: 2.15 seconds
  • Artist name using the provided font and animation: 3.20 seconds

Outro sequence (mandatory)

  • "Produced by [Organizer / Brand Name]" using the provided font and effect: 5 seconds
  • "Recorded and edited by [Director Name]" using the provided font and effect: 5 seconds
  • Fade-out: 2 seconds

Visual style

Use only the provided title animation and font, follow the supplied motion and typography references, and maintain a consistent presentation across all uploads.

Color grading

Match all camera angles as closely as possible in exposure, white balance, contrast, and overall color tones. The preferred look is vibrant, colorful and medium-contrast. Avoid flat grading, washed-out colors, and significant mismatches between cameras. Optional LUT collections are included in the Publishing Kit.

Editing rules & sync

Edits should feel natural and stay aware of the rhythm and energy of the performance. Keep cuts intentional and unobtrusive, avoid excessive effects and over-editing, and do not use transitions. Audio and video synchronization must be precise - no frame tolerance and no visible sync errors. Use waveform synchronization or timecode whenever possible.

Audio post & loudness

The final mix should be clean and balanced and preserve the dynamics of the set. Audience sound may be incorporated when it meaningfully enhances the viewing experience. Target loudness: -14 LUFS; maximum true peak: -1 dBTP. Do not over-compress or distort the audio.

05

Export Specifications

Video export

  • Format: MOV · Codec: H.265 (HEVC)
  • Resolution: 4K (3840×2160) · Frame rate: 24fps
  • Quality: Maximum · Network optimization: Enabled

Audio export

  • Codec: AAC · Sample rate: 48kHz
  • Bit depth: 16-bit · Data rate: 320 Kb/s

Export setting references are included in the Publishing Kit.

06

Thumbnails

Every submission must include at least two thumbnail variations. A thumbnail can be a frame pulled from the content itself or a photograph taken during the event.

The thumbnail should clearly feature the artist, framed either as a close-up or from the waist up. Secondary priorities are capturing the unique character of the location and/or the peak energy of the performance.

Deliver thumbnails at the highest quality available, with no significant edits. The closer to source quality, the better. The INDEKS team will handle the design work for the upload.

07

File Naming Convention

All project files must follow this naming format: YYYYMMDD_INDEKS_PARTYBRAND_EVENT_DJ_VERSION

Example: 20260401_INDEKS_MUSHROOM_DNBNight_MILLIENT_V01. Consistent file naming ensures efficient archive management and version control.

08

Quality Control Checklist

Before submission, confirm the following. Only submissions that meet these standards should be delivered for publication on INDEKS.

  • Video - footage is sharp, exposure is correct, cameras are color matched, no dropped frames or stutters.
  • Audio - clean, fully synchronized, loudness standards met, no clipping or distortion.
  • Graphics & titles - logos follow guidelines, titles follow formatting, no spelling or naming errors.
  • Delivery - file naming follows the required convention; all deliverables exported using the approved settings.
09

Fee

When using De Deken's videography services to record full DJ sets, a 25% discount is applied to the order total if the sets are published to INDEKS exclusively.

When publishing as an external partner, an appropriate publishing fee is calculated based on the quality and duration of the submitted work.
